Binged this over the weekend and I was genuinely surprised by how great it was.

I tried to watch the first episode, but I got bored instantly. It doesn't seem for me. It seems another stupid teen TV show with some humor in it.

This was part of my quarantine watchlist and I was surprised by how much I liked it. It was perhaps the best thing I've seen in the past few months. Funny and clever, with amazing writing; it's also quite moving (I teared up several times, especially in S1E8) and very honest and refreshing in the way how it approaches its subject matter. The characters are so good that it becomes hard to choose a favorite. Otis and Maeve are brilliant, Eric is like the friend we all want to have, Ola is magnetic in her androgyny, Lily is hilarious... Can't wait for season 3

I watched a couple episode of the first season but it hasn't hooked me.

The writing went downhill towards the end of season 2, but season 1 and the first half of season 2 are (mostly) excellent. The protagonist is a bit flat but the supporting cast is strong, especially Anderson and Gatwa.

S3 was good! almost as good as S1, definitely better than S2. And what a soundtrack this go... Rakim, Richard Hell, Etta James, Art Blakey, Bob Dylan, Big Star! Props to the music team - they've had a head start on my thumbs up ever since opening the whole show to Muddy Waters.
I've found the series mostly brightly made and enjoyable - it's upfront with the subject but often thru hilarious exaggeration and it's a fun unspecific setting and a good ensemble - clearly the writers love their characters, it shows. Mr Hendricks the music teacher always cracks me up. I think Emma Mackey as Maeve was the wonder of S1, but by the end of S3 it's Ncuti Gatwa and Asa and their friendship that moves most.

Outside of the new head teacher going from chill to Gestapo in one episode and Ruby getting shafted after the breakup... damn good season. Loved the bat shit bus stuff in ep5... and so many characters got a chance to shine overall. Loved Mr. Groff standing up to his brother and stealing the salad bowl. And these two (especially Miss Sands) are always wonderful: And now that I think about it... the actual low point of the season was the baby daddy drama... especially the ugly cliffhanger. Jakob not being the father would just be fucking cruel. But it's hard to stay mad at this show after they go and use one of Chilton's masterpieces (The Ballad of El Goodo) to close out the season.

Season 3 was phenomenal, and I honestly thought it would be the last, after Maeve leaves to study abroad . But this one seems promising. Can't wait
